Find the foods behind your bloating

Serotonify is an AI gut coach that matches your symptoms to your meals and cites the research for every step it suggests.

About 90% of your body’s serotonin is made in your gut, where it helps set the pace of digestion.

From “something I ate” to the food that did it

Each plan follows the elimination and reintroduction method dietitians use. The coach does the bookkeeping.

  1. Log what you eat and how you feel

Snap a meal or scan a barcode, then rate your symptoms in a few taps. Sleep, stress and blood results go in the same log.

  2. See your likely triggers

After a week or two, the coach shows which foods line up with your bad days and how sure it is about each one.

  3. Test one food at a time

Cut a suspect for two weeks, then bring it back. Serotonify measures the change so you aren’t relying on memory.

  4. Keep what works

Foods that pass the test go back on the menu. Your plan updates, and the coach tells you why.

Advice built on your blood tests and the research

Add your lab results, then ask about food, symptoms or supplements. Serotonify answers from clinical guidelines and peer-reviewed trials, and checks every answer against your results and logs.

  • Every claim is cited. Tap a source to read it.
  • Weak evidence is labelled weak. You see how certain each answer is.
  • It knows its limits. Warning signs get a clear “see a doctor”.

Based on my blood results and symptoms, which supplements are backed by evidence for me?

Two results stand out. Your vitamin D is 32 nmol/L, below the 50 most guidelines aim for. A daily 1,000 IU supplement is well supported, and we’ll retest in 3 months.

Your ferritin is 11 µg/L, which points to low iron. Iron tablets would help, but guidelines say low iron plus bloating should be checked for coeliac disease first. Ask your GP for a coeliac blood test and keep eating gluten until it’s done.

For the bloating itself, peppermint oil capsules have modest trial support. I’d hold off on a probiotic for now.

Your health data stays yours

Blood results and symptom logs are some of the most personal data you have. Everything you add to Serotonify is encrypted.

  • Encrypted at every step

Your logs, lab results and coach chats are encrypted on the way to our servers and while they’re stored there.

  • Never sold, never used for ads

We don’t sell your health data or share it with advertisers. It’s used to coach you and nothing else.

  • Delete it whenever you like

Export your data or delete your account from settings. Deleting removes your logs and lab results for good.

Progress you can see in your own data

Every plan runs as an experiment, so you can see what changed, by how much, and what most likely caused it.

Fructans are a likely trigger

Bloating dropped 52% on the low-fructan weeks and came back on reintroduction.

Lactose is fine up to 250 ml

No change in symptoms at a glass of milk a day. Dairy goes back on the menu.

Frequently asked questions

What is Serotonify?

Serotonify is an AI gut health coach app for people with bloating and other food-related gut symptoms. It matches your symptoms to your meals, ranks the foods most likely to be causing them, and walks you through testing each one with an elimination and reintroduction plan. Every suggestion cites its source and shows how certain the evidence is.

How does Serotonify find the foods that cause my bloating?

You log meals by photo or barcode and rate your symptoms in a few taps. After a week or two, the coach lines up your bad days with what you ate in the hours before and gives each suspect food a likelihood. You then cut the top suspect for two weeks and bring it back, and the app measures whether your symptoms change.

Is Serotonify a low FODMAP diet app?

It uses the same elimination and reintroduction method as the low FODMAP diet, but starts with your likeliest triggers rather than cutting every FODMAP at once. The British Society of Gastroenterology (2021) recommends a low FODMAP diet as a second-line dietary treatment for IBS, ideally supervised by a dietitian, and the American College of Gastroenterology (2021) suggests a limited trial.

Can Serotonify diagnose IBS or a food intolerance?

No. Serotonify gives general wellness guidance and does not diagnose or treat medical conditions. If you report a warning sign such as blood in your stool, unexplained weight loss or symptoms that wake you at night, it stops coaching and tells you to see a doctor. UK IBS guidelines also recommend a blood test for coeliac disease, which is only reliable while you are still eating gluten.

Does Serotonify replace a dietitian or doctor?

No. It handles the day-to-day logging and bookkeeping between appointments, and you can export your logs to share with your GP or a registered dietitian. Clinical guidelines set the starting point for every plan, and your own data decides which foods stay in your diet.

What does serotonin have to do with digestion?

About 90% of the body’s serotonin is made in the gut, mostly by cells in the gut lining, where it helps set the pace of digestion (Yano et al., Cell, 2015). Serotonify works on the gut side of that link: what you eat and how your digestion responds.
